LIFE AT ITS FINEST [ 2 ]

HELLO

So, today I was going to write you all a lovely post on a grand pinwheel cookie recipe I slaved over for about 5 hours. However, it didn't turn out accordingly because the powdered sugar I added ended up being flour [ how could I not see the difference, I don't know ], and well I found out this important info until after baking all these not so delicious treats as I tried making icing with the non-powdered sugar that turned out into not icing. So that was my morning. Bottom line though, always check to see if your powdered sugar is actually powdered sugar. Just sayin'.

Anyways, today other than that has been swell. This week as well has quite nice & I am secretly happy that the summer is almost over. I'm stoked because this hot & blasphemous weather needs to be over pronto.

This summer has been nicer than I thought it would be & I'm thankful for all of the memories created this year thus far with all of my friends & fam. I can't believe we're already half-way through 2015- & if it's anything like last year, the rest is going to fly by within a snap.

AUGUST IPSY GLAMBAG

ALOHA

This month's glam bag from ipsy impressed me & I'm excited to share that for anyone who's been on the waitlist to receive glambag's  can rest assured know that there's no wait list any longer! Also if you're looking to sign up with ipsy, you can click the link here to do so.

This month's theme is prep school & the products I received reflected my taste in beauty quite well.

MARC ANTHONY ARGON OIL OF MOROCCO TREATMENT

I love it so much that I can't stop running it through my hair. It smells nice, feels lovely & I can literally feel a difference within seconds of putting it in my hair.

SKONE COSMETICS EYE/LIP PENCIL IN WINE

One of my favorite qualities I adore in lip/eye products is knowing that what I'm putting on my face is good/safe for my skin. I say this because so many times I've seen lip products state a warning about the product being toxic in the eye area, to which I wonder what is even in the product in the first place? Is it just me that feels this way? Anywho, I love the shade of this liner & can't wait to use it for dark lip looks in the fall!

MARSK PRO LINE EYE SHADOW BRUSH

This brush is a new favorite of mine simply because it can work for smudging a good smoky eye to packing on a good pigmented shadow all over the lid. Bravo.

NOYAH NATURAL LIPSTICK

I like this lipstick in particular because it's right in the middle when it comes to pigment & giving the look of a natural lip. I especially love that it's all natural.

TRUST FUND BEAUTY NAIL POLISH IN ELEGANTLY WASTED

The shade of this polish is absolutely lovely! It has is a purplish-gray shade & is perfect for the transition of summer into fall.

Overall I love this month's bag! I always look forward to receiving my glambag & can't wait to share about more bags in the future.

LIFE AT ITS FINEST

HELLO MY LOVELIES!

So this weekend has been quite chill compared to the rest of my week, however it isn't to say I haven't been up to shenanigans.
* Designs at its finest state *

Yes, those are designs. Yes, I basically found my new hobby this weekend. No, I can stop jumping up & down. Why? On top of rad designs, I also spent time with friends. I'm a firm believer in taking a breath & spending time with the people that matter to you most. Especially when that includes coffee, long talks & laughs.

I also [ finally ] subscribed to darling magazine & received my first issue yesterday. Words could not describe my love for this magazine- between what it stands for, its remarkable photography [ untouched photos by the way ], articles & crisp clean appeal, I'll probably never fall more deeply in love with a magazine than this one. True story.
* How darling! *

Life has pretty much been peaches & cream. On top of the wonderful weekend I had, I also [ finally ] got my license this week! I know, I'm 19 years old- but hey, better late than never right?!
* LICENSED *

JULY FAVORITES

TGIF

July has been a pleasant surprise as I hadn't the slightest clue I'd be so busy. Truthfully, I like being busy. Especially when it doesn't feel like a busy schedule but rather just a lot of events- you feel me?

Well, this month I couldn't live without my circular sunnies from target- priced at only $4 on clearance! It was definitely a steal. Another incredible deal from target were these sam & libby sandals priced on clearance for $7. I know, I just about fainted when I saw the total at the cash register.

My beauty favorites for this month include the Loreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in 102 Shell Beige. I love this foundation in particular because it thoroughly describes it on the back of the product stating it as a demi-matte finish, 24 hour wear, medium coverage & air-light texture. Usually I reach for my Tarte Amazonian Clay, but this month I found myself having an affair with Loreal. Yay for good drugstore products!

Another favorite is the perversion mascara by Urban Decay. You all are well aware of my love for Urban Decay, therefore it's not a shocker that I fell in love with this mascara as well. It's not clumpy & grips all of your lashes giving volume & length. 10/10 for me. Now if only they made a waterproof formula...

Thirdly I hold MAC's lipstick in Brave at my highest level of adoration for matte lipsticks. It's magical. It's not drying. I love it. Also, pair it up with Rimmel London's lasting finish lip pencil in  Spice & you got yourself a neutral matte lip winner.

Rose MAC fix+ spray is my life currently. I can't leave the house without dousing my entire face with a million spritz's of its magical aroma. It has never failed to set my makeup in place & it also works well with the Loreal foundation. It also smells, like,  BALM.

Nail polish remover wipes, where have you been my whole life? Between the spilling of nail remover liquid all over the carpet when I was 7 & the pathetic sponge dispenser that felt like fire amongst my delicate nails, you are my hero. A real warrior for all women everywhere that are SO tired of the hassle of taking off nail polish. You are my truest of loves- that is all I have to say.

Cinema Secrets brush cleanser, you are the only cleanser I will now use on my brushes for the rest of my life. Forever. That is also all I have to say.

Lastly, I would like to I've a shout out to my dear friend Taylor who published this lovely gem. I definitely cannot live without it me uplifting words everyday- I encourage all to read it!

I also got to celebrate my birthday alongside my dad- to which I received a Betsey Johnson bag (so in love with it, especially since all my plain black bags were looking slightly ghetto due to their wear) & also Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Perfume. If you know me, you would know that every time I walk into Sephora & Ulta I spray this all over me. Also on a scent strip (also known as mouillettes in French) for later.

My love for this perfume couldn't ever be conveyed fully- its spring/summer time sweetness smell perfectly sums up my summer. I can't believe summer is almost over & I can't believe there's only about 4 3/4 months left of 2015.

Fall is almost upon us, I know it seems a little too early to be talking about fall but it's almost here & my love for fall is crazy. Mainly because I can start wearing my blazers again without people giving me a weird look & wear lots of pretty layers of plums, deeps oranges, emeralds & well any other fall colors you could think of. Is anyone else just as excited as I am for fall? Leave comments below!

DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD

HELLO WORLD

It occurred to me today that pumpkin spice everything season is coming soon & almost upon us. I couldn't help but ponder the vast amount of recipes in store for the fall. It led me to contemplate making my pumpkin bundt bread- however, I passed with the conviction that I shouldn't rush into fall & bake another recipe.

Thus, double chocolate chip banana bread happened. Someone pinch me.

Let me tell you, pictures don't do it justice- it's too good.

Double Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  • 3 bananas
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

             Directions

I. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray Bundt pan with Bakers Joy or canola oil tossed with flour.
II. Start off by mashing bananas in bowl.

Add in melted butter, dark brown sugar, egg & vanilla extract. Whisk together until well mixed. III. Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon & cocoa powder together. Whisk dry ingredients together until well mixed. Slowly add the combined dry ingredients into bowl & mix thoroughly.

Add chocolate chips slowly & pour into Bundt pan.
