University of Makeup

Throughout this past month I began to set my heart & mind on my passions. All of which are including beauty & makeup. Therefore, I decided to pioneer my way into an online makeup school.

You're probably thinking, "How the heck does it work" & "Why not regular makeup school". For the first question, it's actually quite simple & if you're interested in becoming an Makeup Artist but don't know for sure yet- do it. You study an online eBook loaded with just about everything you need to know about Makeup Artistry, over 77 video tutorials, and prepare yourself for a certification test. This test entails a list of exact looks you must create with precision & an online Q/A 40 question test. I'm about 1/3 through the curriculum & enjoy every minute of it. I like this school so far because it has taught me many new aspects of the beauty industry I didn't quite understand yet.

Now that I've got my feet wet in MUA world, I know that's what I want to do with my life. Which leads me in answering my second question: I've come to this place in my life where I'm beginning to make the most wherever I'm at & that where I'm at now won't be forever. So, that is why I came to terms of going online (like high school) & am half-content/ half-crazy about my journey of where I stand thus far. I keep the half-crazy close by so that I am always willing to go outside the box, persevere, never give up, and keep moving forward. It creates creativity & perspective for me.

I am truly excited to see where it takes me & will always keep you, my lovelies, in the loop as how it all turns out!

Keep perspective,

xoxo

MAC Cosmetics Holiday Collection Objects of Affection review

Firstly, I can't apologize enough for not putting up this review around the holidays. However, I did walk into MAC the other day and see this pigment set still for sale- but I would hurry, because I'm pretty positive they're just about all out!

The set I bought out of the four they were selling was the Objects of Affection/ Pink + Rose Pigments + Glitter set.
The Pigments from left to right are in Whisper Pink (A light frosty pink; limited edition shade), Tan (A frosty tan; available for purchase and not limited to this set), Rose (A gorgeous hot pink that's shimmer filled and almost duo chrome; available for purchase and not limited to this set), Reigning Riches (Glitter formulation- a warm copper glitter; limited edition shade), & Heritage Rouge (A warm dark matte plum; available for purchase and not limited to this set).

I by far am impressed with MAC cosmetics holiday collection this past year- I give them major brownie points for their packaging & theme.

Oh- and by the way, in case you really did want this set and think you missed out, here's the link I found to go buy this lovely set!

TGIF!

Revlon Lip Butter Review

I was looking for a lipstick that's super moisturizing, pigmented & at a drugstore price- to which I found these little gems.

They're more than just those given qualities- they truly last and are worth the try! The lip butters from left to right are named Wild Watermelon (A settle fruit punch-y color; a cool bright red), Lollipop (A bright pink-y fuchsia), Pink Truffle (A warmer under toned pink), Cupcake (A settle bubblegum pink), & Sugar Frosting (A frosty pink nude).

I usually lay these little guys on top of my Cailyn lip balms which always give me super moisturized pigmented looking lips.

On a side note, I have to really hand it to Revlon. I can't say enough good things about there products I've tried throughout the past couple years. If you're just starting out in makeup, I definitely recommend this drugstore brand!

Happy Wednesday ya'll!

January Ipsy Glam Bag

I adore the moment when my tracking information is wrong and my package arrives a day earlier. Is it just me, or am I the only one that wishes packages could come just a little bit faster in the mail?

Well, my January ipsy bag came today and can I just say that I am genuinely impressed with every product. Usually every month I do research and look up the products I recieve in my glam bag and compare them to brands site price. I am always impressed and love that the brands/products you receive, are always on point.

Product #1: BelláPierre- Shimmer Powder in "Celebration"

I cannot begin with the amount of glow and shimmer in this product. I have never seen such a beautiful gold shimmer powder that has that perfect balance of warmth. It can be used of the eyes or you could use it as a lovely bronzer. I give this product an A+. Oh, and did I mention the regular price of this product is $14.99? That already pays for the ipsy bag and then some!

Product #2: Elizabeth Mott- All Over Shadow Brush

First of all, I love Elizabeth Mott. I could go to town on how amazing her products are. Every time I have ever tested anything of her, I am always genuinely impressed. This brush, regularly priced at $9.99, is so soft and is the perfect all over shadow brush. It gets in the crease well, blends well, packs on well, I could go on but I think you get the picture!

Product #3: La Fresh Eco-Beauty- Moisturizer

I am actually impressed with this moisturizer. It is natural, which I love, and it does what it says- moisturize. The packaging is creative; it smells very fresh and feels light.

Product #4: Pacifica- Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow

Throughout the past few years I have tried many products from Pacifica and have always found joy in the essence of there coconut smelling products. I love this shadow because of how simply shimmer filled it is. It's a shadow you can wear all over the lid, or in the inner corner. I encourage you to look into Pacifica at your local target, they have tons of different products.

Product #5: Probelle- Into The Blue Nail Lacquer

This polish is one of the most gorgeous baby blue polishes I've ever owned. You can do one coat of polish for that gel like appearance, or two if you want to pump up that color!

Overall, I am content with my January Ipsy bag. I loved all of the products in here and am super excited for next month's!

Stay balm beauties-

Why you should choose Ipsy

How I love ipsy Glam Bags!

What's ipsy you might ask? As you may know, there are tons of different monthly subscription boxes/packages that have been very successful within the past couple years, including ipsy. Ipsy is an intentional and creative way of giving beauty obsessed girls a place to network, connect, and create their own place to create different makeup looks or even just review different beauty brands.

I started my subscription w/ ipsy a little over two years ago, and I have not stopped loving them. I can honestly say that their ten dollar cost each month is nothing compared to the worth of all the products you receive in your bag each month. Most of all, the products you receive are tailored for your needs/wants in makeup, skincare, preferences, etc. You just take their beauty quiz & voila! Off you go to starting your ipster journey as a mini beauty reviewer/pioneer.

There's so many more fun things that ipsy offers such as deals on the brands included in all of the bags each month, a point perks program, different offers Tuesday-Thursday on the ipsy site, and so much more.

Oh, and did I mention you get tons of cute bags each month? Yes please!

Happy Wednesday, see you tomorrow lovelies-

Too Balm Tuesday: Cailyn Review

It's Tuesday, & I'm seriously trippin'  on these too balm Cailyn lip balms. I am in love. Finally, a lip color that will not get on my teeth no matter how hard I try. Cailyn lip balms- you're the real MVP!

I can't say enough about how pigmented & beautiful these colors are. They dry matte but aren't too drying. They're so reliable, I ate an entire meal with my lips still looking on point afterward. Oh yeah- did I mention that there's a guide that matches shimmers & different glosses to layer on top of their lovely balms on cailyncosmetics.com?!
** Swatches from left-to-right are in Velvet Rose, Sunburst, & Big Apple.**

So when I received an ipsy bag with another Cailyn product, I knew it wouldn't disappoint.

Give me all the shimmer in the world. Oh, and a good inner corner highlight. This Cailyn eye polish is too adorable- soft, super shimmer filled & formulated just right.

All of the packaging on this brands products are so inventive & lovely, I can't even contain it.

I hope your Tuesday has been too balm, and if it hasn't- don't trip!  Remember, tomorrow's just a day away. See you tomorrow lovelies!

HOT or NAH: Maybelline's Color Tattoo 24 hour eyeshadow's

A dose of color, a dabble of shimmer, and a smooth silky formula- that is what you should definitely expect with these bad boys!

They definitely kick drugstore eyeshadows bad rep- they're actually pigmented! Intensely, I might add. They can be worn by themselves, or you can use them as a definite no-budge eye primer with good color pay off. For those that haven't heard, swatched or seen these creamy shadows, be prepared to get on this bandwagon!

My first fave is Bad to the Bronze:

I love it for its soft texture & its color- a shimmery brown with a cool undertone.

Secondly, is Barely Branded:

This color is the perfect shimmery nude, a perfect base or inner corner highlight.

Third is Bold Gold:

The name says it all- a true gold with bits of gold glitter. It's a warm gold with the boldness to match.

Fourth is Inked in Pink:

In all honestly, I didn't think I would grab for this one at all out of all the other colors. However, with the Naked 3 palette on hand- I think you can put the rest together.

Fifth is Tenacious Teal:

This color wins hands down. I cannot tell you how much I adore this color for its true Aqua blue high pigmented goodness. Enough said.

Sixth is Edgy Emerald:

A lovely shimmery sea foam green with high pigmentation- I'm down for that!

Overall, these shadows are definitely worth the talk! I vote #HOT. They do what they say & more. I encourage you to check these guys out at your local drugstore!

P.S. If you're looking into a good drugstore brand to start off with, so far Maybelline takes the cake with me!

Review on new Lorac Mega Pro Palette

You know that feeling of never wanting to fully dive into love, yet somehow feeling it beckon you? The same feeling you get when desiring to let your fingers dance in the fresh shadows and swatch away, yet you couldn't bare to murder a new near & dear palette? Especially if it's this one:

Usually on a review, I'd go into detail about the loveliness in the product. So, I'll give you a basic run down and say that there are 16 matte & 16 shimmers. All are equally intensely pigmented, and fall out is minimum. The matte shades aren't like your typical dry dragging shadows- they glide on like butter.
Shimmery shadows in general I would say have a reputation for either too much fall out or too little pigmentation- but these extra glitter infused shimmers, they take the cake!

However, I'm choosing to spare you the rest of the heart crushing details on this palette- because if there wasn't such a tragedy tied to this palette, I would be giving it a 5 out of 5.
The tragedy:
If any of you kept up to date with the latest in Lorac land (or rather, makeup palette release obsession world), I'm certain you know the dirt on this gem.
If you don't know the back story (rather, travesty) Lorac made major hype over the long awaited heaven sent mega pro palette. It launched, everyone went wild, and suddenly by day number 2, they were all sold out. Amazon was simply the "fall back guy" (translation- they had some in stock too, but on and off). You kept hoping Amazon (fall back guy) would have what you wanted (the palette dripping in gold), but you came to the reality that the fall back guy would never amount to what you had with your ex Lorac (yes, ex- because Lorac, you really should have prepared for a big breakthrough with sales and all the hype action from pretty much every woman that loves you).
By the looks of their facebook wall, I'm pretty positive they get the picture. Gosh though, it just stings when you feel like you've missed out. However, I have not given up on my beloved Lorac. They truly do have makeup treasures worth digging into.
That is why I'm giving this palette a 4.8 out of 5. The .2 is missing in symbolism of your frustration in not getting your hands on the palette, and my frustration in you not receiving it as well. To be completely honest with you, I'm pretty much obsessed. No, I'm not trying to rub it in- I actually am encouraging you to look into Lorac's other pro palettes. I mean a buttery soft textured shadow with heavy pigmentation is what a lot of us beauty pioneers are after. In fact, here's a little word of encouragement for you that I thought of when reviewing this palette:
We are all essentially pioneers in this world of makeup & beauty. We are creatives, and we aspire to put our artistic skills to use. We long to pick up tools, items, and even more skills along the way on our journey. If this palette didn't make its way into your path, don't sweat it. There's always going to be the latest and greatest palette, so don't be bummed out.
Pioneers won some & lost some along the way, but they managed!

Sending warm hugs & a Happy New Year-

Hannah Ruth
